HOW TO PLAY

Find the pattern, one square at a time.

Picture Logic is a nonogram: a number puzzle in which row and column clues tell you which squares to fill. All patterns are original, abstract grids generated in your browser.

Read the clues

For example, a five-square row with clues 2 1 could be filled, filled, empty, filled, empty. Its filled runs have lengths two and one.

Make your marks

Choose Fill, Empty or Erase, then tap or click a square. Fill paints a block, Empty adds an ×, and Erase returns it to unknown. Tapping twice with the same tool leaves the same mark. You can switch tools whenever you like.

On a small screen, the 10 × 10 board may scroll sideways within its frame. You can use the 5 × 5 option for a smaller board.

Keyboard controls

Ctrl / Cmd + Z
Undo. Add Shift to redo, or use Ctrl / Cmd + Y.

A little help is always available

When is a puzzle solved?

Finish by filling exactly the required squares. The other squares may remain unknown or be marked empty. A highlighted clue means the filled runs in that line currently match its numbers; it does not prove that every square in the line is correct.

Fresh puzzles, at your pace

Choose 5 × 5 (Small) or 10 × 10 (Large), then select New puzzle. These are grid-size labels, not difficulty ratings. The generator checks each puzzle for exactly one solution. Some require more thought than others, and no particular human solving technique is guaranteed.

The generator has bounded attempts and search limits. In browsers with worker support, it runs away from the main interface. If random attempts are exhausted, it tries a simple verified fallback pattern. If generation fails, the current puzzle stays in place and you can try again.

Save only when you choose

Save here stores one snapshot on this browser. There is no automatic saving or automatic restoration. Restore checks the saved clues before replacing the current game; undo history starts again after restoration. Delete save removes only this game’s snapshot. New puzzles and resets do not change the saved snapshot.

The save will not follow you to another device or website address, and clearing browser data may delete it. If storage is blocked or full, you can still play. See the privacy notice.

Move your own progress

Open Move a save file and choose Download save to keep the open puzzle as a JSON file. On another Picture Logic address, choose Import save and select that file. Files are read locally and never uploaded. The game checks the format, clues and unique solution before importing; files from other games or larger than 32 KB are rejected.

Import asks before replacing current progress. Cancel keeps your puzzle. To keep both puzzles, cancel and download the current one first. Import starts fresh undo history and does not overwrite the browser save: choose Save here when you want to keep the imported game on this browser. The downloaded file includes marks, checks, reveals applied and elapsed time, but no solution or undo history. Keep the original file as a backup.
